Life can throw various challenging situations our way which effect us in a variety of ways, or we may have been battling sensitive issues from the past or childhood, whatever it maybe sometimes we just need someone to talk to about it.  Person Centred Counselling offers a unique safe space in which to explore what is going on for you and have someone listen, non judgmentally in order for you to decide the best way forward.

Our emotions, thoughts and processes are all unique to each individual and as such there is no “one” way to work through our issues, working either long or short term depending on what feels right for you and the challenges faced, enables change, new insights of development and growth.

I am a qualified accredited person centred counsellor, working throughout Northumberland (and online throughout the UK) with adults ages 18+.  My own life journey and experiences allow me to work with many issues. I also specialise in working with Trauma and PTSD via a *trauma informed practice framework.  Other work can include:

  • Relationship Issues
  • Family/Childhood
  • Anxiety
  • Depression
  • Anger
  • Low Self Esteem
  • Sexuality
  • Work/Life changes
  • Loss
  • Sexual Abuse
  • Self Harm
  • Bereavement
  • Addiction

The list above is not exhaustive, and sometimes it can just be the feeling that things ‘are just not right’ in your life or you have that ‘stuck’  feeling or difficult feelings keep coming to the surface and stopping you living a healthy and fulfilled life.  Taking the decision to seek the help of a therapist can be a daunting and scary place to be, and my aim is to help you take that step when you are ready and make it as safe and welcoming as possible.

I believe It is really important to find the right counsellor, that you like, trust and feel comfortable with in order to open up about the things that you want to explore and build the therapeutic relationship.  I offer a free 30 minute introductory session so you can meet me and find out if I am the right fit for you.

*Trauma Informed Practice, is a framework applied to any type of counselling model that works in awareness of trauma, offering a ‘what happened to you?’ approach rather than a more clinical ‘what’s wrong with you?’ viewpoint.  When experiences of trauma (in adulthood, but especially childhood trauma) are ready to be spoken about in therapy it is important that a client feels they are in control of when they feel safe and respected to start talking about these difficult topics.  It is unique to that individual and I work with you to understand your needs (before engaging in therapy and throughout) together we will work to become aware of triggers, and how to navigate these both inside and outside of the therapeutic space. If this connects to what you would like to bring to therapy but unsure and would like more information, please reach out and I can give more details.
